The war is been going on much longer than expected. The recruitment centers multiply. In line, you can see now small crooks, that if they surviv the war, will see their penalties commuted. They were recruited by the small town’s sheriffs to feed the greedy machine war.

The man that stayed beind, as their jobs were hard and their strenght was neeeded, are seen moe often in lines. The economy is stucked. The wages are miserable or simply stopped. The army is now a garanteee of at least one meal a day.

Women are taking men jobs and tasks, and they are taking care of the youngs and the elderly ones, that war rejects. As soon as the recruitment officers reach each town, they turn their back as they walk by.

Cowboy sortudo | Lucky cowboy

20230704_201002.jpg

She was returning home after a long day picking apples. She was tired, with her face all dusty and messy hair, lost in her toughts and she didn't noticed gallop coming in the dusty road.

He was travelling in a hurry, longing to tell his chief the best news: the biggest scum bag of the county had been found hided in a small village. He was seeing nothing or nobody.

As he passes her, left a big dusty cloud around her.

- Asshole! - she screamed, earning strength in her anger.

He stoped like he was rushed to awake from a dream. Turned back, and apologized to the girl  and offered his canteen so she could wash her face, and as he was speaking, discovered the most beatiful brown eyes he ever seen.

She looked with anger at the asshole that made her all dirty, only to fin the most gentle face she had ever seen in a man. She accepted the canteen and washe an apple, giving it to the cowboy.

He apologized again, and told her he was in a hurry, but she could have the canteen to wash herself and give it back in town, in the sheriff's office, when she passed by.

He left thinking when he would ever see those eyes again.

She watched him leave, washed herself up and got back her path thinking that she would have to go to town tomorrow and what dress should she wear.

Templo em ruínas | Temple in ruins

20230128_135458.jpg

Read in a book that a dead man is a temple in ruins. It is exactly so for this guy over here. Loved by so many other little filthy thieves like him, admired by headless teens. But none of them were here when he was arrrested. Months went by and no single soul came to seee him. Those who worsheepd him ran out like mice as soon an the temple started to crumble.

A failed attempt to escape, lead us here. He was alone. No one was here to help him. Problably tomorrow in his funeral there will be no one to even shed a tear for him.

Yes, this guy over here is a total ruin.

Regresso a casa | Back home

IMG_0090.JPG

You can almost say that today is a happy day. War is over and those who fought are coming back home. In their arrival, they are welcomed with clapps and cheerings, that became more silent as the column walks by: the first are the ones who scaped almost armeless and that still have a horse to ride. But next, on foot, come tired, malnurished and hurt man. Right after, the most wounded in wheelchairs, stretchers or simply supportin each other.

As the convoy pass by and the families recognize their beloved ones, claps and cheers fade away, becoming cries and words of revolt. They invade the column taking back their relatives and taking them home right away.

The column reaches quarters with much fewer man. Luckly the population mobilized and there are hot meals, baths, washed clothes and first aid for those who arrive there. You can almost say that today is a happy day.

A quinta prospera | The farm is prospering

IMG_0102.JPG

Step by step the farm as been growing. It all started with a small vegetable garden to feed the family, and now they are selling the excess to the comunity. To the rabbits and chickens, are now adding some cattle heads and everyone is here, to see the arrival of the animals. The kids are super curious and don't stay away from the fence for long.

The work as been getting bigger and harder, and the next year will be a challenge for all, as so much is happening on the farm. The kids were told they would have to help out in the farm tasks. Mum thinks they will be abble to take care of the chickens and the kids are excited about it and proud too.

Little by little, the farm prospers.

Fila no banco | Queue at the bank

IMG_0083.JPG

The news about the most recent safe deposit box had the effect disered. Since it was installed, it started do arrive to town sverel new costumers, that even made a queue near the bank, at some hours of the day.

Opinions differ, as have been seen in the city some unknown figures, with bad looks and unfriendly. It will be a good thing to have this kind of people in such a calm town? Or maybe they'll bring some progress to this usual quietness?

Bandeiras brancas ou tomates? | White flags or tomatoes?

IMG_8985.JPG

Peace is obtained as much in the battle field, as in the negotiation room, after long and exausting discussions, like the lost and regained territory in battle field.

It will begin amother round of negotiations and it forces to have cold blood, a fine sense of justice and to speak assertive words. Many lives could be savd if this round reaches to an agreement.

Outside, women will staind tall, until some news arrive. They bring with them many white flags that they will unfurl and walk on to the streets, in case peace is obtained. Otherwise, they will not hesitate to thrown some ripe tomatos, that they brought along too, against the generals if a cease fire is not achieved!

Abastecimentos | Supplies

IMG_0074.JPG

Once a month, more or less, supplies of all kind and orders made in the drug store, reach the small city. As soon as the first wagon starts to unload the goods, the word as spread out and in no time the drug store will be filled with people to see what came.

Women look for the fabrics they ordered to make new dresses for the new season. Man look for that tool or that part that was sent to be repared. In a few days, will arrive some strange people, searching for the newest model of pistols or riffles.

These next days, the drug store will be very much alive and will not be large enough for so many costumers.

Tempo de agradecer | Time to be grateful

IMG_20220812_181416.jpg

Finalmente a guerra acabou!

Finally war is over! It's time to lick the wounds, enjoy every new day without fearing what it will bring and aprecciate peace. And mostly, it's time to thank for being alive and those who made it possible.

This house turned into an improvised hospital and many were saved here, or at least received first care before being transfered so wiser hands.

There were no doctors or nurses here. There was a midwife, a baker and a dressmaker, that couldn'd stand without doing nothing in front of those who needed so much help. They arranged the space and laid hands to everything that could possibly help them, and started to receive patients.

Know that the war is over, there are a few wounded who need care, but they are already receiving those who they took care of, and are here to thank all their work.
