Passeio de amigas | Best friends walk
Estas duas são agora as melhores amigas, mas nos tempos da escola, eram assim uma espécie de rivais. Disputavam tudo: qual subia mais alto a uma árvore, quem atirava mais longe uma pedra, quem saltava mais vezes à corda, quem lia melhor ou qual a mais rápida a fazer as contas nas suas pequena ardósias.
Hoje é vê-las de braço dado todos os Domingos a tomar chá, ou a passear junto ao rio. Já não se recordam de todas as suas aventuras, mas revivem-nas cada vez que as suas filhas chegam a casa ora contentes porque superaram a amiga, ora furiosas porque perderam alguma disputa com a rival.
A disputa das mães, perpetua-se na das filhas. Esperemos que uma futura amizade também!
These two are now best friends, but at their school days the friendship was more like a rivalry. They disputed everything: wich one climbed the highest tree, who throwned a stone far away, who won jump rope, who read the best, or wich one did math faster.
Today, they have tea or walk by the river arm in arm every sunday. They not remember all the adventures lived, but they are reminded of some of them, when their daughters arrive home happy cause they won a challenge , or in the opposite, when they arrive in fury because a challenge was lost.
Mother's rivalry perpetuates in their daughters. Let's hope that a future friendship is being built as well!
Uma grande viagem | A big voyage
Há vários dias que é impossível conter o entusiamo e a excitação dos miúdos. Finalmente as férias grandes chegaram e aí vão eles a caminho da América para visitar os tios que há alguns anos que por lá estão.
Uma viagem por mar durante vários dias, é uma aventura gigantesca para estes garotos. Mal sabem eles, que terão até tempo para se aborrecer horrivelmente, já que a viagem durará duas longas semanas.
Por agora, tudo é uma diversão e tudo desperta uma curiosidade imensa e não há lugar para aborrecimentos. Veremos daqui a uns dias...
For several days it's been impossible to calm down the kid's excitement, Finally summer vacations are here and they are on their way to America, to visit the uncles that moved a few years ago.
A sea trip is an amazing and huge adventure for the kids. But they don't know yet that they will have all the time in the world to even get borred to death, as the journey will last two long weeks.
For now, all is fun and curious and amazing. No boring at all in the first hours. We'll see abaout that in a few days from now.
Bandidos | Crooks
Estes três bem que tentaram montar um plano para assaltar o banco da cidade. Mas são tão, mas tão patifes, que num instante começaram a desconfiar uns dos outros, a discutir e desafiarem-se ainda não tinha passado meia hora de reunião.
Está pois criado um impasse, acerca da divisão do produto do roubo. Aquele que baixar primeiro a arma sairá obviamente perdedor, isto se antes não for disparado nenhum tiro que tenha como objectivo reduzir o número de intervenientes no plano.
Nervos de aço, pois então!
These three well attempeted to figure out a plan to robb the city bank. But they are so so mean, that in no time they started to suspect of each other, fighting and challenging one another, only half an hour past the meeting start.
It his a deadlock about splitting the product of robbery. The one who puts down his gun first, will be obviously the looser. That if no shot will be fired before, to simply reduce the number of stakeholders in the plan.
Nerves of steel are needed!
Época das chuvas | Rain season
A época das chuvas está aí e é muito importante deixar as sarjetas desimpedidas, para o escoamento das águas se dar convenientemente e evitar entupimentos ou inundações. Ainda que um pouco maçador, é um trabalho importante que não deixamos de fazer.
Não é para me gabar, mas aqui eu e o meu parceiro fazemos uma equipa espetacular. Do que depender de nós, aqui na nossa zona não haverá problemas!
Rain season is here and it is very important to leave the gutters clean and unobstructed so the water can flow convenently and avoid cloggings or even flood. It's a bit boring, but it's an important job that we must do.
I'm not bragging, but me and my partner we make a great team. In what depends of us, in our work area there will be no troubles!
O aviador e o lobo-do-mar | The airman and the sea-wolf
Um loiro e outro moreno. Um amante do balanço do mar, o outro apaixonado pela leveza do ar. Niguém diria que são irmãos. Um é comandante de um navio mercante, especializado nas rotas marítimas mais difíceis e inóspitas. O outro leva a vida a trazer e a levar pelo ar, intrépidos aventureiros aos locais mais inacessíveis do planeta.
Pouco têm em comum além de uma energia inesgotável e um respeito profundo por este planeta. Tanto assim é, que o navio de um, tem o mesmo nome do avião do outro: Gaia. Em homenagem à Deusa da Terra da mitologia grega, mãe que gerou todos os deuses e o planeta terra.
Juntá-los não é tarefa fácil, mas hoje por coincidências do destino, estão juntos e isso além de motivo de festa, é a certeza de ouvir dezenas e dezenas de histórias assombrosas e de aventuras em catadupa. Ouvi-los é quase querer ir. Deixar tudo e experimentar na ponta dos dedos, ou na planta dos pés, aquele planeta selvagem que eles conhecem e que nós tantas vezes esquecemos que existe: um planeta com uma natureza indómita, incontrolável e imparável, de uma riqueza e diversidade incríveis. Na verdade, eles sentem de facto, todos os dias, a vida a acontecer num intrincado equilíbrio mágico e divino.
One is blonde, the other is more dark skinned. One is in love with the balance of the sea, the other is passionate about the lightness of air. No one would tell that they are brothers. One is captain of a merchant ship, specialized in the hardest and inhospitable sea routes. The other brings back and forth by air, courajeous and fearless adventurers to the most inaccessible places of the planet.
They have not much in common, besides a never ending energy and a deep and profound respect for the planet, as a living being it self. It is so much so, as the one's ship as the name of the other's plane: Gaia. In honour of the Earth's Godess from greek mythology. Mother of all gods and of the planet Earth.
Get them together, is no easy task, but today, by some destiny chanches, they are. And that is really some reason to party, but also for earing the most extraodrinary stories about stunning adventures. To ear them, is almost wanting to go immediatly. Leave all behind and feel in the finger tips, or in the soles of feet that wild planet that they know so well, and that we keep forgeting that it's real: a planet with a wild, uncontrollable and unstoppable nature, with amazing richness and diversity. Truelly, they feel every day, life happening in a delicate, magical and divine equilibrium.
Passeio ao pôr-do-sol
Lembro-me bem do dia em que tirámos esta fotogafia. Já lá vão 60 anos!
Estava um final de tarde tão, mas tão bonito, que nunca mais o esqueci. A côr do sol e os tons com que este pintou todo o universo, foi simplesmente mágico. Foi um dia ameno de Outono e foi o primeiro de muitos passeios que demos nesse e noutros tantos Outonos da nossa vida.
Esta é uma das minhas mais doces memórias e foi uma sorte tê-la registado.
I remember quite well the day that we took this picture, 60 years ago!
It was a such a beautiful end of the day, that i could not forget it. The colour of the sun and the all the shades that it painted all around, was a king of magical, as it was indeed a beautiful thing to watch. Ii was a warm autumn day, and it was also the first of many strolls that we took together in that autumn and many many autumns that followed in our life.
This is one of the most sweetest memories i have and i am lucky enough that i have registered it at the time!
Saudades do Verão | Missing summer already
Os dias têm estado agradavelmente amenos para este princípio de Outono. A mãe até já fez a primeira marmelada da época, mas o tempo tem estado mais para passar as tardes na rua a comer gelados, do que fazer lanches aconchegantes em casa.
O final da tarde de hoje é disso exemplo. Vieram para dar um curto passeio antes do jantar, mas o sol já se começa a pôr e não há meio de a família ter vontade de ir para casa. A filha vai pedinchando só mais uma voltinha, a mãe vai acedendo, sem encontrar forças para a contrariar, apesar de o jantar não estar feito, nem minimamente adiantado. O pai faz de conta que não ouve e aproveita os últimos raios de sol, tendo até dispensado a sua sagrada corrida de fim de dia.
As saudades do Verão, a aparecerem tão cedo!
The days have been amazingly warm for this early autumn. Mom has already made the first marmalade of the seaso, but the weather as been more inviting to spend the afternoon in the street eating ice creams, than for cozy afternoon snacks at home.
This afternoon end is an example of that. They came for a short walk before dinner, but the sus is already setting and there is no way that the family find a way or the will to return home. Daugther is asking for another ride over and over again and the mother cannot finf the strength to say no, despite dinner is not ready, not even close to that. Dad pretends not listening and is enjoying the last ray of sun. He even dismissed his sacred end of the day run.
Summer, you are already missed!
Construtores | Builders
O final do dia de trabalho é por norma, um momento descontraído. Esta equipa é altamente qualificada e está habituada a executar grandes empreendimentos, com um planeamento rigoroso. O dia exige-lhes concentração e empenho, por isso, aproveitam sempre o seu final, para libertar a tensão acumulada. São frequentes as brincadeiras entre eles e algumas das partidas que fazem uns aos outros são já lendárias, e por isso são relembradas vezes sem conta, sobretudo quando as cervejas em cima da mesa se acumulam em número generoso.
Hoje a reunião no café vai ser particularmente participada, pois em breve a equipa vai receber um novo elemento, que como é óbvio, será o alvo das próximas partidas e brincadeiras.
The end of the day's work, is usually a laid-back moment. This team is highly qualified and is used to build big projects with a rigorous planning. The day demands a lot of concentration and hard work, so they get their stress out, at the end of the day, by playing around with each other, usually with pranks. The most epic pranks became legendary and are remember over and over again, specially when bears take over the bar table.
Today, the reunion on the bar will be about a new partner that will join the team. Obviously he will be the target of the next pranks, wich they will prepare carefully.
Férias na montanha | Mountain vacations
A mãe está um pouco adoentada, por isso vamos para a montanha, para ela descansar e recuperar com o ar saudável de lá. Parece que há por lá umas termas muito boas e ela vai fazer uns tratamentos, e assim teremos as manhãs por nossa conta. À tarde, depois de ela descansar, estamos incumbidos de a levar a passear e de a fazer rir. Diz que rir também é bom para os pulmões.
Vamos ficar numa cabana só para nós, mas vamos tomar as refeições ao edifício grande, onde vamos encontrar outras pessoas como a mãe, que estão lá para se tratarem. A mãe disse que vão haver outros meninos e meninas para brincar. E eu espero bem que sim. Deve haver tantos sítios para explorar nos arredores!
Para já, o melhor vai ser a viagem de comboio. O meu pai já a fez com a mãe e dizem que há um túnel enorme e que se passa mesmo à beira de grandes precipícios. Estas férias vão ser fantásticas, só pode!
Mom is a bit sick, so we’re heading for the mountains so she can rest and get better, with the healthy air from up there. It seems that there are some boiling springs, so she’ll be doing some treatments there also, wich means that we’ll be having all mornings for ourselves. By the afternoon, after she rests, we have to take her to walk and make her laugh.
We’ll be staying in a mountain hut, just for us, and we’ll be taking the meals in the main building, where will be some other folks like mom, that are there for the same reason. Mom says there will be some other kids to play with- I really hope só. There should be a lot of places to explore!
For now, the best will be this train travel. My father already done it, and he says there’s a huge tunnel and that we’ll be passing right on the edge of big clifs.
This vacations will be awesome!
