Esta noite, Suricata-Atento, será nomeado o mais recente guerreiro da tribo. Superou com sucesso todas as provas impostas aos rapazes que chegam aos 15 anos e logo à noite, colocará o seu escudo ao serviço da tribo, como guerreiro.
Veio por isso pedir a proteção dos espíritos ao feitiçeiro da tribo, última das premissas necessárias: se os espíritos estiverem dispostos a protegê-lo, Suricata-Atento poderá participar na cerimónia desta noite.
Awê, o feitiçeiro, dar-lhe-á a beber uma poderosa mistura de ervas, que o mergulhará no mundo dos espíritos, do qual se espera que traga uma mensagem. As suas primeiras palavras após sair do transe serão fundamentais para decidir se os espíritos estão com ele ou não.
Depois de engolir a mistura, Suricata-Atento caiu num sono profundo, mas muito agitado, do qual demorou a sair, causando alguma preocupação ao feiticeiro. Finalmente, após muito tempo em transe, e ao acordar sobressaltado, as primeiras palavras que disse foram: Awê, no meu sonho uma grande águia perseguia-me lá bem alto no céu, onde quer que eu fosse!"
E o feitiçeiro soube que Suricata-Atento tinha a protecção dos espíritos.
Tonight, Vigilant-Meerkat, will be nominated the most recent warrior of the tribe. He overcome every challenge imposed to all 15 year old boys, and later on, he will put his shiel on tribe's service, as a warrior.
He came to ask spirit prottection to Awê, the tribe's sourcerer. If the spirits are willing to protect Vigilant-Meerkat, he will be able to participate in the ceremony tonight.
Awê will give him a powerfull potion, that will immerse him in the spirit world, from where he should bring a message. His first words when waking up, will be vital to know whether the spirits are with him or not.
After swallowing the misture, Vigilant-Meerkat fallen into a very agitated deep sleep, from where he took very long to came out, causing some concern to the wizard. Finally, after a long time in trance, he woke up, grabbed sourcerer's hands and said: "Awê, in my dream, a great eagle followed me, quite high in the sky, wherever i went!"
And Awê knew that Vigilant-Meerkat had the spirits protection.
