Sorriso-Dourado e Raio-de-Luz | Golden-Smile and Ray-of-Light

A relação do índio com o seu cavalo, é uma coisa muito especial. As leis da tribo mandam que cada índio deve apanhar e domar o seu próprio cavalo e assim estabelecer desde cedo uma relação forte e duradoura com o animal.

Depois de participarem na primeira caçada da tribo, os índios mais jovens são considerados aptos a caçarem o seu cavalo. Muitos precisam de várias tentativas para o conseguirem. Outros nem por isso.

Sorriso-Dourado acabou de conseguir apanhar o seu. Demorou um dia inteiro. Só o conseguiu, mesmo ao pôr-do-sol, quando os últimos raios de luz do dia tocavam a terra. Chamou-lhe então Raio-de-Luz e o animal pareceu gostar. Os dois passarão agora três dias sozinhos. Irão conhecer-se e aprender a confiar um no outro.

Ao final dos três dias, regressarão para junto da tribo, onde será realizado um cerimonial de consagração junto ao totem da tribo. Os índios acreditam que, se ao fim destes três dias o animal não fugir, foi porque os espíritos de ambos se uniram e apenas se irão separar com a morte de algum deles.

Longa vida a Sorriso-Dourado e a Raio-de-Luz!

The relationship between an indian and his horse is a very special one. Tribe laws says that an indian should capture and tame his own horse, and established early a strong and longlasting relation with the animal.

Young indias are considered able to capture horses, once they take part in one of the tribes hunt for food. Many need several days to accomplish the task. Others don't need that long.

Golden-Smile had just achieved that goal. It took him all day long, and it was just at the sun down, when the last rays of light touched the ground that he got it. He called the horse Ray-of-Light and the animal seemed to like it. The two of them will spend the next three days alone. They will learn about each other, how to bond, and trust one another.

By the end of these days, they will return to the tribe, were it will be performed a consecration ritual by the tribe's totem pole. The indians believe that, if the animal doesn't escape by the end of the three days, that's because bouth spirits came together in a special bond, witch can only be broken with the death of one of them.
