Preparada com meses de antecedência a expedição está prestes a começar. O entusiasmo e a expectativa que nortearam as últimas semanas são agora substituídas por um nervoso miudinho que ninguém confessa uns aos outros. Ainda para mais, a primeira parte da expedição arranca com uma viagem de balão. Voar de avião já é desafiante. Viajar de balão torna ainda a aventura mais empolgante.
Kazim vai levá-los até ao topo da montanha onde pretendem montar o acampamento e permanecer por 3 meses, em busca de uma pirâmide de uma civilização antiga. A primeira tentativa de chegar ao topo da montanha por terra, foi mal sucedida. A selva densa, sem caminhos definidos e a grande dificuldade de orientação, levou a equipa a procurar outra solução. Apesar de mal sucedida, a primeira tentativa de chegada ao topo da montanha revelou fortes indícios da presença da civilização procurada. Depois de semanas em busca do caminho para o topo, primeiro em viaturas todo.o-terreno, depois com o auxílio de burros e por fim, a pé, foram descobrindo vestígios de construções, abrigos, utensílios e até ossos. Mas o mais inportante, várias pedras com inscrições e simbologia que apontavavam para a existência de um templo em forma de pirâmide, tal como se previa.
Kazim surgiu literalmente do céu aos trambolhões, quando teve que fazer uma aterragem de emergência com o seu balão, no terreiro do mercado da localidade mais próxima, onde a equipa da expedição se agrupara para definir novas estratégias, após aquela primeira tentativa falhada.
Depois de muito negociarem, pois Kazim exigia um preço altíssimo pela viagem, lá fecharam negócio, fazendo um pagamento adiantado e exigindo que Kazim substituísse o pano do balão, que, sujíssimo, apresentava remendos sem fim e dava pouca confiança de êxito ao grupo.
No dia e hora combinados, Kazim apareceu, garbosíssimo do seu balão que fazia uma vistaça com os seus panos novos em folha, atraindo toda a gente para o seu redor.
Hoje é dia de se porem a caminho e esperar que os panos novos sejam resistentes, e que o sorriso confiante de Kazim seja suficiente para os deixar são e salvos no topo da montanha como pretendido. Isso, e as ínúmeras rezas acompanhadas de paus de incenso queimados, que Kazim insiste em fazer, enquanto eles carregam o material para dentro do balão.
Prepared months in advance, the expedition is about to begin. The enthusiasm and anticipation that guided the last few weeks are now replaced by a slight nervousness that no one confesses to each other. Moreover, the first part of the expedition kicks off with a hot air balloon ride. Flying is already challenging. Traveling by balloon makes the adventure even more exciting.
Kazim will take them to the top of the mountain where they intend to set up camp and stay for 3 months, searching for a pyramid from an ancient civilization. The first attempt to reach the top of the mountain by land was unsuccessful. The dense jungle, without defined paths and great difficulty in orienting themselves, led them to seek this solution. Despite being unsuccessful, the first attempt to reach the top of the mountain revealed strong indications of the presence of the civilization. After weeks searching for the path to the top, first in all-terrain vehicles, then with the help of donkeys and finally, by foot, they discovered traces of constructions, shelters, utensils and even bones. But most importantly, several stones with inscriptions and symbolism pointed to the existence of a pyramid-shaped temple, as predicted.
Kazim literally appeared from the sky, tumbling along, when he had to make an emergency landing with his balloon in the market square of the nearest town, where the expedition team had gathered to define new strategies after that first failed attempt. After much negotiation, as Kazim demanded an exorbitant price for the trip, they finally reached an agreement, making an advance payment and demanding that Kazim replace the balloon's fabric, which was filty and had endless patches and gave little confidence of success to the group.
On the appointed day and time, Kazim appeared, dashing in his balloon, which made a spectacular sight with its brand-new cloths, attracting everyone around him. Today is the day to set off and hope that the new cloths will hold up, and that Kazim's confident smile will be enough to keep them safe and sound at the top of the mountain as intended. That, and the countless prayers accompanied by burning incense sticks, which Kazim insists on doing while they carry the materials into the balloon.
O M´buto chegou à reserva muito fraco e infinitamente triste. Foi encontrado junto do corpo sem vida da mãe, onde terá ficado dias, sozinho e sem se alimentar. Foi encontrado magro como um esqueleto e à beira da morte. Trouxeram-no de imediato para a reserva e a muito custo lá conseguimos que se alimentasse e que ingerisse as calorias e os medicamentos necessários para a sua sobrevivência. Fisicamente está a salvo, mas o seu espírito ainda está longe de ter começado a recuperar. A Nena e a sua cria Ngira são a nossa esperança de ajudar a M’buto. Depois de alguns dias a verem-se apenas através de uma cerca, hoje é o dia em que se podem tocar e interagir verdadeiramente. Que o espírito da vida e da savana volte a renascer em ti, M´buto!
M´buto arrived at the reserve very weak and deeply sad. It was found by it’s lifeless mother’s body, where it stood, probably for days, alone and without feeding itself. It was found skinny as a skeleton and on the edge of death. It was brought here immediately and with a lot of effort, we manage to feed it the kalories and the medicines needed for it’s survival. Fisically M’buto is safe, but it’s spirit is far from even start to heal. Nena and it’s calf Ngira are our hope to help M’buto. After a few days seeing each other trought a fence, today is the day for close interaction, touching and playing. At least só we hope. May the spirit of life and of the savanna be rise again in you, M’buto!
Os últimos raios de sol do dia são aproveitados para uma última refeição. A noite é de vigília, já que muitas vezes os predadores aproveitam as horas de descanso das presas para atacarem. E com uma cria, são necessários todos os cuidados. E esta pequena cria já sobreviveu a dois ataques: um leão já velhote que, já fraco, não quis sofrer mais consequências e que, depois de ter levado alguns coices da progenitora, lá se retirou derrotado; e de duas hienas que se juntaram e que obrigaram a que o resto da manada ajudasse na defesa da cria. Foi por pouco, e a cria ostenta ainda as marcas dos dentes de uma das hienas no dorso. Por isso, assim que o sol começa a abandonar a savana, a pequena cria já não sai de perto da sua mãe.
The last rays of sunligth are for enjoying the last meal of the day. The nigth is for vigilance, as many predators try to take advantage of the prey resting hours to attack. And with a cub, all attention and care are needed. This little cub had already survived two attacks: one from an old weak lion that ran away defeated after getting a couple of mother’s powerful kicks; and other from two evil hienas that came together and forced the rest of the hurd to defend the cub. That one was close, and the cub still displays the wound from hienas teeth in it’s back. So, as the day light fades away, the cub stay close to mother, never leaving far from her, at least until the sun rise again.
Aos primeiros raios de sol da manhã, as últimas tartarugas ainda estão a sair do ninho, para enfrentarem a primeira grande aventura da vida delas: chegar ao mar. A esta hora, já há muitos predadores à espreita, à espera de uma refeição fácil, por isso as últimas a chegar à superfície têm um desafio acrescido pela frente.
A Maria queria muito ajudar estas pequenas criaturas a chegarem depressa e salvas, ao mar. Mas sabe que não deve interferir, mesmo se alguma fique de patas para o ar, ou mesmo que alguma gaivota esfomeada apareça em busca de uma refeição fácil.
A sua missão é apenas observar e registar, para estudar e garantir a preservação da espécie. A época de nascimento das pequenas tartarugas, é a época preferida da Maria e não há lugar no mundo onde ela preferisse estar!
At the first rays of light of the dawn, the last turtles are coming out of their nest to face the first great adventure of their lives: to reach the ocean. By this time, there's already a lot of predators waiting for an easy meal, so these last turtles have a hardest job ahead. Their siblings used the night to escape predators, but now that the is awaking, so the predators are.
Mary would love to help these little criatures to reach the sea fast and safe. But she knows she must not interfere, even if a small one gets upside down, or if a hungry seagull attacks.
Her mission is only to observe and register, to study and guarantee the preservation of the specie. Birth season is the most special time for Mary, and there is no other place in the world she'd rather be!
A savana é o local mais extraordinário que conheço. A vida aqui pulsa forte, dura e por vezes cruel, mas é pura. Tantas vezes já estive tentado a salvar uma cria de ser devorada por um predador, ou ajudar algum animal moribundo, mas sei que isso iria alterar por completo o ciclo natural da vida que aqui flui. O meu papel aqui não é intervir, mas apenas documentar. O meu papel aqui é escolher a melhor lente, o melhor enquadramento, o melhor ângulo, para mostrar como é a vida no seu estado mais puro, mais selvagem e onde nós humanos já pertencemos, mas da qual nos distanciámos tanto.
Savannah is the most extraordinary place i know. Here life pulses strong, hard and sometimes cruel, but pure. So many times i felt tempted to save a cub from being devoured by a predator or to help a dying animal, but i know that it would change completely the natural circle of life that runs here. My job here is not interfere, but only to document. My job here is choose the best lens, the best framework, the best angle, to show life as it is in it’s nost pure and wild state and here us, humans once belonged but from wich we distanced so long ago.
As crias são exigentes em matéria de alimentação e as leoas não têm patas a medir para manter aquelas pequenas barriguitas saciadas. Felizmente, não muito longe dali, uma manada de zebras alimenta-se distraidamente da erva fresca e ainda molhada do orvalho.
Na selva não se deve baixar a guarda, nem por um segundo, sob pena de não se sobreviver. E estas zebras vão sentir isso na pele. Pressionado pelas crias e sendo imperativo uma caçada de sucesso, um leão junta-se ao grupo de caça, para garantir o sucesso da investida.
Em breve os filhotes terão carne fresca onde enterrar os dentes e as leoas (e o leão), sabem que terão um descanso merecido, por algumas horas.
Cubs are demanding regardin their food and the lionesses have a hard time to keep those little bellies satiated. Luckly, not far away, a herd of zebras distractedly eat some fresh grass still wet from the night.
In the jungle, you can not lower your guard in any circunstance, cause in a few seconds of distraction might be your death. And these zebras will experience that in a few moments. Held on by the cubs and knowing the importance of a successful hunt, a lion join the hunt group to help.
Soon the cubs will have fresh meat to put their teeth in and the lionesses (and the lion) know that they will have a deserved rest, at least for a few hours.
Não foi apenas sorte, foi preciso alguns dias, para que descobrissem o local de estadia da família de leões e pudessem filmar bem de perto a rotina deles e o crescimento das crias.
A euforia tomou conta do grupo de exploradores, que está a obter resultados mais fantásticos, do que aqueles que esperavam para esta expedição. Ninguém se atrevia a falar na hipótese de filmar crias. Dar-se-iam por contentes se conseguissem filmar os leões a alimentarem-se, quem sabe talvez conseguissem registar uma caçada, mas nunca esperaram conseguir filmar o local de estadia da família de leões, filmar a sua rotina e registar o crescimento de uma nova geração de leões. Grande expedição esta!
It was not only luck: it took a few days to discover the place where the lion family use to stay so the team could film closely their daily routine and the cubs growth.
Euphoria took over the group of explorers, that is obtaining greater results than expected to this expedition. No one would dare to make the hipothesis of filming cubs. Everyone would be very happy if they could film the lions feeding, maybe they could shot a hunt, but they never expected to record the place of stay of the lion family, to film their routine or even register the rise of a new generation of lions. Such a great expedition, this one!
Chegaram por fim ao destino final da expedição. Por aqui ficarão pelo menos dois meses e o objectivo é muito claro: documentar, documentar, documentar. Hoje chegou apenas o essencial: alimentos para as primeiras refeições e claro, todo o equipamento fotográfico e filmográfico necessário ao grande objectivo.
Este trabalho será a base de tomada de decisão quanto à cedência destas terras para exploração mineira, ou à sua preservação, pela sua importância enquanto ecossistema.
A Lia liderará a investigação no que respeita à avifauna, o Pedro aos insectos e o veteraníssimo Rogério aos mamíferos. Nos próximos dias chegarão mais alguns investigadores, nomeadamente os botânicos.
Ninguém quer perder um minuto que seja, pois o prazo é curto e a tarefa gigante e por demais importante: todos querem preservar esta terra magnífica e vão ter trabalhar no duro para o conseguir!
They finally arrived at the expedition spot. They will be here for two months and the goal is very clear: document, document, document. Today is arriving only the necessary: food for the next meals and all the equipment needed to film, phothograph and register everything.
The work of this expedition will be the base to decide whether this land is given to mining or not.
Lya will be leader of bird's investigation, Peter will take care of the insects, and veteran Roger, will study the mammals. In the next few days some more investigators will come, namely, the botanics.
No one wants to leave a second at all, as the deadline is short and the task gigantic and so so important: everyone here wants to preserve this beatifull land and will have to work very hard to do so.
A Rocha Vermelha tem a melhor vista de todo o parque nacional.
Na região todos conhecem a história de como a grande pedra ficou assim, vermelha:
Há muito muito tempo atrás, no principio do mundo, o último dos dragões era perseguido incessantemente pelas suas valiosas escamas. Elas não eram só um precioso troféu, como curavam doenças e serviam de moeda de troca nos negócios mais arrojados. Nesse tempo, o Homem era muito ganancioso e perseguiu até à extinção esta espécie, em busca de glória e sobretudo riqueza.
O último dos dragões vivia em fuga constante, até que depois de uma luta particularmente violenta decidiu não parar de voar, até que as suas asas já não aguentasem mais o peso do seu robusto corpo. Foi assim que o último dragão descobriu esta grande rocha e nela pousou, admirando a magnífica paisagem que dali se avistava.
Exausto, enroscou-se e ficou por ali a contemplar o local até que acabou por adormecer, feliz de certa maneira, por ter encontrado tão belo lugar. Não mais acordou, pois sem perceber, uma seta perfurara por debaixo da sua asa, no seu ponto mais vulnerável e por ali perdera grande parte do seu sangue enquanto dormia e a rocha tingiu-se de vermelho.
Passariam muitos sóis e muitas luas, até que a carcaça do último dragão fosse quebrada pelo vento, levada pela chuva e engolida pela terra. Mas a rocha ficaria para sempre vermelha.
The red rock as the best view from the national park. Aroud here, everybody knows the story about how the big rock it became red. Here it goes:
A long long time ago, in the beginning of the world, the last of the dragons was being chased for it's precious scales. They were not only a mighty trophy, but a valuable currency trading and also cured some skinesses. In that time, man was greedy and chased the species to extinction for glory and wealth.
The last of the dragons was on constant escape, until the day he decided not to stop flying until the wings could bare it's weight. It was how the dragon discovered the big rock, landed on it exhausted, admiring the landscape and catching up breath.
Exhausted, he layed down and fell asleep, somehow happy, as he have found such a beatiful place to rest. No longer he awaked, as during his escape, an arrow got stuck under one of his wings, in the most vulnerable place without the dragon noticed that. While sleeping, the last of the dragons lost all it's blood wich coloured the rock in red.
Many suns and many moons went by before the dragon carcass dissapeered, broken by wind, taken by the rain and swallowed by the earth. Although the rock became red forever.
Nasceu uma cria de urso no Parque Nacional de Playmobil!
A mãe, Pata-Negra, conhece cada recanto do parque e mostra-os agora à pequena cria.
Uma pequena clareira junta ao rio, é um dos locais preferidos da mãe ursa, pois sabe que frequentemente tem ali à sua espera uma guloseima dada pelo Fred, o guarda-florestal do parque.
Hoje, é a primeira vez que Pata-Negra traz aqui a sua filhota, que logo se aproxima de Fred, curiosa.
Enquanto se deixa farejar, Fred aproveita para verificar se a cria está bem de saúde e nesse processo, surge-lhe de imediato um nome para ela: Pata-Tenra!
