A professora pensou que fosse uma boa ideia levar os miúdos a conhecer as salinas, onde é produzido o sal.. Mas o dia não correu tão bem assim: as crianças estavam mais interessadas em molhar as mãos nos talhos onde a água fica a evaporar, ou a meter as mãos em cada monte de sal que podiam e atirá-lo uns aos outros, do que em saber como se produzia o sal.

Salvou o dia o Ti Joaquim, que ao perceber o entusiasmo descontrolado dos miúdos, os levou para um dos talhos mais afastados, e ali os deixou molhar os pés, enterrar as mãos no sal à vontade e os ensinou a usar o rodo para juntar o sal. 

The teacher thought it was a good idea to take the kids to visit salt pans, to know how the salt is made. But the day did not go smoothly: the kids were more interested in putting their feet into the pans, where the water stay to be evaporated, or stiking their hands in every pile of salt they could reach and kept trowing it at each other, than knowing a little bit more about how the salt was produced.

Mr. Jim saved the day, as he realized the uncontrolled enthusiam of the kids. So, he took them into a away pan and there, he let them wet their feet and put their hands in the salt at will, and he even let them use the squeegee to gather the salt.
